FG earmarks N30bn for 2nd Niger Bridge

The Federal Government has earmarked N30 billion to kick-start the second Niger Bridge being handled by Julius Berger Nigeria Limited.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, made this known recently while addressing South East political leaders in Enugu on the activities of the present administration so far in the zone.

She also stated that N60 billion zero credit facility from the World Bank was made available for erosion control in the region with particular reference to Nnaka area of Anambra State that is highly affected.

According to her, N68 billion was for the improvement and development of other infrastructure like roads in the zone.

Okonjo-Iweala promised to do everything possible within her powers to source for fund at zero credit level to ensure that important projects initiated by the present administration in all parts of the country are completed before 2015.

At the same forum, the minister of works, Mike Onolememen, said that about N236 billion is being spent on federal road projects in all the five states that make up the zone and promised to ensure that the projects are done to specifications and completed on time too.
