President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the capital and maintenance dredging of Calabar Port, the managing director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Habib Abdullahi, has said.
This is contained in a statement signed by Iheanacho Ebubeogu, the NPA general manager, public affairs, in Lagos on Monday.
The statement said that Abdullahi made this known when he paid a courtesy visit on the acting governor of Cross River, Efiok Cobham.
Abdullahi said the Federal Government was concerned about the development of the port, adding that government was making concerted efforts to make the ports operate optimally.
According to him, both local and international investors will reap the benefits the dredging contract will offer.
