Abia threatens legal actions against blackmailers

Abia State government has threatened to take extreme legal actions against any person or group of persons who spread information that could create rancour in the state.

This threat follows the publication in the official organ of the Nigeria Police, ‘The Dawn’ of March 11-24-2013 edition which revealed that police had uncovered the gang rapists at a location in Rivers State which was earlier purported to have taken place in Abia State University, Uturu.

Cosmos Ndukwe, chief of staff to Governor Theodore Orji, told journalists that such rumours and allegations against Abia State government were aimed at tarnishing the image and reputation of Orji’s administration by opponents and detractors.

“Interesting, the gang-rapists identified as Uche Okoulo, Chizoba Nwosu, Nwazuo Nmezi and another now at large are not students of Abia State University while the scene of the crime was equally identified as Obite town in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.”
