20 ships discharging petroleum products, other commodities in Lagos

Twenty ships are discharging petroleum products and other commodities at the Apapa and Tin-Can Island Ports in Lagos, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) announced on Friday.

According to the NPA, the ships are discharging buck wheat, general cargo, petrol, containers, frozen fish; bulk maize, empty containers, diesel, soya beans, bulk corn, ethanol and bulk fertilizer.

Reports also indicate that 30 other ships laden with petroleum products, food items and other goods are also expected to arrive between Sept. 8 and Sept. 30.

“The expected ships are carrying buck wheat, containers,  general cargo, maize, empty containers, bulk fertilizer,  bulk sugar, frozen fish, containers, base oil, semi-trailer and petrol.’’

NPA said that 11 ships had arrived at the ports and were waiting to berth with bulk fertilizer, bulk gypsum, bulk maize, diesel and petrol.
