Lokoja, the capital city and other main cities in‎ Kogi state was yesterday worn a mournful look as news of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate,  Abubakar Audu’s death filtered cities and towns of the state.
Audu was reportedly died of heart attack ‎around 5 pm on Sunday after the Kogi state governorship election majorly contested between incumbent governor, Idris Wada of People’s Democratic Party PDP, and Abubakar Audu of All Progressives Congress, was declared inconclusive by INEC.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier declared the governorship election inconclusive following the cancellation of election results in 91 polling units across the state, which were more than the victory’s margin of  41,353 votes scored by Abubakar Audu and APC against Idris Wada and PDP.
But, confirming Audu’s death on phone when our correspondent spoke Daniel Isa, Audu’s campaign director-general said, ‎”Yes, Audu is dead. I can confirm that to you.
“He died this (Sunday) evening. All I can say now is that Audu is dead, but I don’t know what killed him until post mortem is conducted on Audu’s remains.”
