Reps direct FG to halt electricity tariff increase

The House of Representatives has directed the Ministry of Power and Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to put on hold plans to increase electricity tariff.

The House also directed both the Ministry and the Commission to ensure there is uniformity in electricity tariff across the country, instead of the present situation where each Distribution Company (Disco) charge the amount it wants.

These directives were given Tuesday during a meeting of the House Committee on Power with Minister of Power, Sale Mamman and other stakeholders in the power sector in Abuja.
