Obasanjo dumps PDP

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Monday dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), saying he will “never be in a party that will destroy Nigeria”.

The two-term president on the platform of the PDP from 1999 – 2007, said he preferred to remain a statesman to being a politician, adding that the membership card was available for collection by those who had earlier mooted his (Obasanjo) expulsion.

He said, “‎I will only be a Nigerian. I’m ready to work with anybody regardless of political affiliation. Why would some people say they want to send me away, they don’t need to bother themselves, here’s your membership card, take it”.

Obasanjo of late had being critical of President Goodluck Jonathan and his administration.
