Following the successful hosting of the 1st edition of the annual Roundtable and Breakfast Session for Company Secretaries in February 2014, DCSL Corporate Services Limited is holding its 2nd Roundtable for Company Secretaries on Thursday, February 19th 2015 at the Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi. With the theme “Company Secretary as the Conscience of the Company”, the Roundtable will afford an opportunity to share practical experience and tips in dealing with the challenges that Company Secretaries encounter in upholding Corporate Governance practices in their companies. The sub-themes that will be discussed include Effective Stakeholder Relationship Management; Defining Reporting Lines; Dealing with Conflict; and Enthroning a Culture of Corporate Governance.
Mr. Bolaji Balogun, CEO Chapel Hill Denham Group will Chair the Session. Confirmed panellists include Mr. Uaboi Agbebaku, Company Secretary/Legal Adviser, Nigerian Breweries Plc.; Mrs. Adenike Laoye, Company Secretary, Ecobank Nig. Ltd.; Mrs. Cecilia Madueke, Company Secretary/Legal Adviser, Julius Berger Nig. Plc.; and Mr. Sesan Sobowale, Corporate Relations Director, Guinness Nigeria Plc.

The 1st edition which featured Mr. Opeyemi Agbaje; Ms. Ayotola Jagun of Oando; Mrs. Elizabeth Idigbe former Company Secretary of Forte Oil Plc and Mrs. Olajumoke Bakare, former Company Secretary of FCMB Plc. was very well attended. The theme of last year’s Roundtable was “Caught in the Middle” and it afforded Company Secretaries the opportunity to share practical experiences and tips on the challenges they encounter in the performance of their duties and responsibilities from both a practical as well as Corporate Governance perspective.
In a statement by Mrs. Oluseun Oluwole, Head, Training and Executive Selection Unit the Roundtable is one of the events in DCSL’s Corporate Governance Series. One other event in the series is the annual Seminar on Improving the Performance of the Audit Committee.
