Wakrot Chinshaka, renowned creative director and founder of Blacc Urban Studios, has been honoured with the Art & Creative Innovation Award at the 10th Plateau Man of the Year Awards 2024.
The event, themed The Legendary Edition, brought together influential personalities, industry leaders, and cultural icons, recognising individuals whose contributions have significantly shaped Plateau State’s development and creative landscape.
Wakrot Chinshaka’s recognition stems from his pioneering work in art, design, and cultural storytelling.
His acclaimed projects, More Love, Less War and The Blood-Stained Child, among others, have served as powerful catalysts for social change, using urban visual art, fashion, and creative therapy to foster unity among Plateau’s diverse ethnic and religious communities.
Now in its second phase, More Love, Less War has expanded its scope to focus on helping children affected by conflict, offering art workshops, storytelling sessions, and creative expression initiatives that serve as mediums for emotional healing, empowerment, and reconciliation.
By integrating traditional artistic techniques with contemporary urban styles, Chinshaka continues to bridge the gap between heritage and modernity, demonstrating that art is not just a form of expression but a powerful tool for peacebuilding and social transformation.
The ceremony also honoured Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, who received the prestigious Plateau Man of the Year 2024 Award.
Mutfwang’s transformational leadership has played a pivotal role in driving infrastructural renewal, economic empowerment, and peacebuilding initiatives across the state.
His commitment to fostering stability, unity, and inclusive development has earned him widespread recognition, positioning him as a visionary leader dedicated to Plateau State’s progress.
Upon receiving his award, Wakrot Chinshaka expressed his gratitude, stating:
“This recognition is not just about me; it’s about the power of creativity to shape society. Through More Love, Less War, we are telling stories that inspire change, foster unity, and give a voice to communities that have endured hardship. I am deeply honoured to be part of this movement and remain committed to using art as a force for good.”
Blacc Urban Studios remains at the forefront of cultural innovation and creative advocacy, championing projects that merge artistic excellence with social impact. With this recognition, Wakrot Chinshaka further cements his legacy as a creative visionary, dedicated to advancing the Nigerian creative industry and inspiring the next generation of artists, designers, and cultural storytellers.
