Something About the Briggs tells a heartfelt story of love, marriage, and forgiveness.
The movie, produced by Bukola Ogunsola, who also wrote and directed, delves into the lives of the Briggs, a wealthy but dysfunctional family grappling with marital and relationship issues.
With over 150 custom-made costumes, Something About The Briggs delivers a visual spectacle that matches its heartfelt storytelling. The film explores relatable themes of love, marriage, and forgiveness, raising the bar for Nollywood productions.
On January 26, the who’s who of Nollywood gathered at the IMAX Cinema in Lekki for the highly anticipated premiere of ‘Something About The Briggs.’ The cast and crew owned the show on the red carpet, ensuring an exciting night to remember.
For Nollywood director, Ogunsola, the journey to her latest cinema release, Something About the Briggs, wasn’t just about filmmaking—it was a test of perseverance and sacrifice.
Speaking about the project, she said, “Over the course of five years, I poured my life into the ambitious project, losing out on opportunities, navigating funding nightmares, and sacrificing personal milestones to bring this vision to life.”
“It took five years of my life,” Ogunsola revealed during the premiere. “And during that time, I couldn’t work on anything else. The funding challenges alone were enough to make anyone quit.”
While Something About the Briggs is already generating buzz among industry insiders, Ogunsola’s journey highlights the often-unseen struggles behind Nollywood’s cinematic successes. The pressure of working without guarantees, coupled with the sacrifices made by her and her team, underscores the reality of independent filmmaking in Nigeria.
“I want to thank my cast. I am blessed with the most supportive casts. They have supported me all the way. We made 150 customs from scratch for this film,” she disclosed.
