Many artists begin their careers in front of the microphone. Emanvee’s journey started behind the scenes.

Before becoming known for emotionally driven songs such as “No One To Call,” “Still Soft,” and The Lonely Tribe, the Nigerian Afro soul artist was already involved in music through production, collaboration, and creative development. Those early experiences would later play a significant role in shaping both his sound and artistic identity.

Born Olajide A. Emmanuel in Irun Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, Emanvee grew up with a deep appreciation for music and storytelling. Influenced by artists such as Olamide, he developed an understanding of how powerful music could be when it reflected real experiences and genuine emotions.

Rather than immediately pursuing a career as a recording artist, Emanvee initially spent time collaborating with other creatives and contributing behind the scenes. In 2024, he worked closely with Urban Chords on various projects, gaining valuable experience in songwriting, production, and artist development.

These collaborations allowed him to observe the creative process from a different perspective. Instead of focusing solely on performance, he learned how songs are built from ideas, emotions, melodies, and stories. This period would become an important foundation for his future work as an artist.

One of the notable projects connected to this phase of his career was his involvement in creative collaborations associated with contemporary Afro fusion releases, helping expand his understanding of modern African music production and songwriting.

As his confidence grew, Emanvee began developing his own artistic voice. He realised that many of the stories he wanted to tell were deeply personal and could only be fully expressed through his own music.

That realisation eventually led to his debut releases in 2025.

Songs such as “Back To You” and “No One To Call” introduced listeners to an artist who was less interested in trends and more interested in honesty. While many contemporary records focused on celebration and status, Emanvee’s music explored loneliness, vulnerability, heartbreak, healing, and emotional resilience.

The response was immediate.

“No One To Call” quickly became the most recognised song of his early career, helping establish his reputation as an artist capable of turning personal experiences into relatable music. The song gained traction across streaming platforms, social media, and music discovery services, introducing his work to a growing audience.

As the audience expanded, so did the ambition of his projects.

Over the following months, Emanvee continued building his catalogue through singles and collaborative releases. His ability to blend Afro soul melodies with reflective storytelling attracted listeners seeking music that felt authentic and emotionally grounded.

This artistic evolution eventually culminated in The Lonely Tribe, his debut studio album released in May 2026.

The project represents the clearest expression of everything he learned throughout his journey from collaborator to artist. Across fifteen tracks, Emanvee explores themes of isolation, love, healing, faith, personal growth, and self-discovery. The album features contributions from Wani, Soul of Afrika, Urban Chords, Inspiraystonner, Hera, Automixx, and VFF MIX, reflecting the collaborative spirit that has remained central to his career.

Before the album’s release, snippets from tracks such as “Silence” generated significant engagement across social media platforms, helping introduce the project to listeners long before it officially arrived. The response demonstrated that audiences were connecting not only with the music itself but also with the honesty behind it.

Today, Emanvee stands as part of a growing movement of independent African artists using digital platforms to build audiences without relying solely on traditional industry structures. Through streaming services, social media, and direct fan engagement, he has continued expanding his reach while remaining committed to meaningful storytelling.

Looking back, the transition from producer and collaborator to recording artist may seem like a natural progression. Yet it was the experiences gained behind the scenes that helped shape the artist listeners know today.

For Emanvee, music has never been simply about creating songs. It has always been about creating connection.
