A few months ago, Blessing Victor, a room attendant in the Housekeeping Department of Transcorp Hilton found a sum of N500,000 cash (half a million naira) in the room while cleaning the room that had been checked out by a guest.
As tempting as the money, apparently forgotten by the last occupant of the room was, the room attendant returned the money to her Supervisor and recorded it as a lost but found item. It was not long, before the guest discovered the money was missing, and in a guess contacted the hotel, not sure if he actually left the money in the room. The guest was surprised to learn that a Room Attendant who cleaned the room after he checked out found the money and returned it intact.

Impressed by the rare show of honesty, the guest returned to the hotel about two weeks later to reward Blessing for her display of honesty and integrity. She was rewarded with a cash prize of N100,000. Besides the cash award, the grateful guest offered Blessing a scholarship for a two-year diploma course at the Nigerian Aviation School Lagos.
For her integrity, Blessing now has an opportunity to further her education and career.
Blessing’s exemplary conduct was also recognised by the hotel management. At a reception organised for her, the hotel general manager thanked her for living the Hilton Value of Integrity and presented her with a Blue Energy Certificate in addition to an offer of complementary stay in the hotel on any weekend of her choice.
Blessing left the service of the hotel on June 17, 2013 to resume studies at the Nigeria Aviation School in Lagos.
