Senior retail banking providers across industry and regulation will converge on Intercontinental Hotel, Lagos, on February 4 for Jeff & O’Brien Conferences and Events’ 2015 Quarter 1 Roundtable. The theme of the event is ‘The Future of Retail Banking in Africa’.

Special guest is Godwin Emefiele, governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The conference will address issues around innovation and efficient service delivery to retail banking customers in an environment of growing customer sophistication and need for differentiation by providers.

This fast-changing environment has introduced those Pascal Odibo, group country director, Jeff & O’Brien Training International, describes as “disruptive innovators.” These are key players that are changing the game with cutting-edge technology and innovation, and banks must rethink their retail strategies to meet customer requirements and maximise sales, he advocates.

Odibo – whose institution leads in international financial and business training programmes in Africa – emphasises that: “It is numbers that drive retail. For you to manage the numbers we are talking about to make retail a viable economic activity, you must have a very strong distribution strategy. You must do what we call customer centricity. In addition, marketing and product innovation and operational efficiency will ensure that you spend little and get more.”
