The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) in collaboration with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), will be leading stakeholders to reposition banking industry in new world order.

They are expected to deliberate on the role of banking and finance in facilitating a sustainable future at the 13th Annual Bankers Conference, billed to hold simultaneously in Abuja and Lagos on September 15 and 16, 2020.

The conference themed; “Facilitating a Sustainable Future: The Role of Banking and Finance” will bring together prominent bankers; major economic players; captains of industries; regulators; policy makers; members of the academic community and other stakeholders in the banking and finance industry.

, Bayo Olugbemi, president and Chairman of Council of the CIBN, who spoke to the media via zoom, said the Institute for the first time is adopting a hybrid approach to the conference which will take place simultaneously, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja and the Bankers’ House, Adeola Hopewell Street, Lagos and through Zoom teleconferencing (include the zoom link here).

“In line with the theme, participants will evaluate the role of the Banking and Finance Industry in engendering an inclusive sustainable growth as well as offering a direction on how to reposition the Industry for relevance in the new world order, by leveraging on digitalization to boost Nigeria’s economy” he stated.

Also speaking Patrick Akinwutan, managing director/CEO Ecobank/ Chairman of the Consultative Committee for organizing the conference, said the “annual forum will be used to brainstorm on strategic issues that are critical to building a sound and sustainable financial ecosystem and economy, with resolutions made available to all the relevant stakeholders and policy makers to enable them re-appraise and align their operations and strategies in line with global best practice”.

Over 2,500 participants, across the globe are expected to participate virtually, with the Governor of The CBN, Godwin Emefiele, as chief host and president and Chairman of Council CIBN, Bayo Olugbemi as the host. Dignitaries including President Muhammadu Buhari, and his Ghanaian counterpart, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo are expected to participate at the conference, including Ahmad Lawan, Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker, House of Representative of the Federal Republic of Nigeria;. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos State; Zainab Ahmed, Minister of Finance, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mohammed Musa, Minister, Federal Capital Territory and other notable personalities.

An array of highly renowned industry experts have been carefully selected as resource persons at the Conference, with Okey Enelamah, former Minister of Trade and Investment as Keynote Speaker.
