Perform or get sacked, Minister Keyamo warns aviation CEOs

Festus Keyamo

Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, issued a stern warning to the chief executives of aviation agencies under his ministry, stating that he would not hesitate to dismiss them if they attempted to undermine his duties. Keyamo made this declaration during a one-day stakeholders’ meeting held in Lagos.

“We had a three-day retreat with Mr. President, all the ministers. At the end of the day, we signed a performance bond. I also signed my performance bond yesterday. So, if you don’t want me to get sacked in the next few months, you need to support me,” Minister Keyamo emphasised.

Addressing the CEOs of aviation agencies present at the meeting, he made it clear that the future of their positions was at stake. “On this side, it is either I get sacked or they get sacked. So, it is a race to who will survive. That’s what I have told all my CEOs; somebody must die first, but before I die, I will take you down,” Keyamo stated firmly.

The purpose of the retreat, according to Minister Keyamo, was to gather insights from industry experts and professionals. He emphasized the importance of their input in shaping the roadmap and priorities of the aviation sector, aiming to make it world-class and meet the expectations of Nigerians and aviation stakeholders. “We should desist from blame games and focus on solving the problems in the industry,” he urged.
