Festus Keyamo, the  Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has embarked on a working visit to Sokoto State, where he commissioned the newly constructed access road leading to the Sadiq Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto.

The Minister also laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new protocol lounge at the airport as part of ongoing efforts to modernize aviation infrastructure across the country.

The Minister was warmly received by Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, the Executive Governor of Sokoto State,  as the visit coincided with the Governor’s second year anniversary in office.

The event underscored the spirit of collaboration between the Federal Government and State Governments in delivering quality infrastructure that enhances air travel, safety, and passenger experience.

Accompanying the Minister on the visit were Olubunmi Kuku, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), as well as top directors of the Authority.

The airport is a gateway not just to Sokoto, but to the entire North-Western region. These infrastructure upgrades are crucial for enhancing passenger experience and facilitating regional development, the Minister stated.

The event was attended by traditional rulers, state officials, aviation stakeholders, and members of the press. The Minister’s visit reflects the Federal Government’s continued investment in aviation infrastructure as a critical driver of economic growth, regional integration, and national pride.
