The minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika has said the resumption of international flights will be ‘in a matter of weeks.’
Speaking during a briefing by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Thursday, Sirika said “So, we will open as soon as all of us are happy to open and I want to adopt what the national coordinator has said by saying, it will be in a matter of weeks rather than in months for international flights to resume”.
For five months, the federal government had shut down airports for international flights as a result of the increase in COVID-19 cases.
While other countries have since opened their airports to international flights, the reopening of Nigerian airspace had lingered for a while.
This situation had forced several Nigerians to travel to Europe and the United States through Cotonou.
