There was a fire outbreak at the Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri this morning, Saturday, 17th August and passenger had to run out to safety.
The fire outbreak was said to have been caused by an electrical surge according to an eye witness.
Henrietta Yakubu, general manager, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, (FAAN) confirmed the incident.
“There was an electrical spark this morning in the control switch of an air conditioner in the Public concourse of SMICA- Owerri. A fire extinguisher was used to put it out,” Yakubu said.
