Nigeria’s largest carrier, Air Peace, has announced a temporary disruption to its scheduled Lagos–London Gatwick service after a routine technical check detected a minor fault on one of its aircraft.

In a statement issued on Saturday through the airline’s official X handle, the management said the issue was discovered after passengers had already boarded the aircraft, prompting the immediate withdrawal of the plane from service in line with established safety procedures.

According to the airline, the fault was identified during a routine post-boarding technical inspection conducted before departure.

“Following the completion of passenger boarding, a routine post-boarding technical check identified a minor aircraft fault that required immediate attention,” the airline stated.

The airline said all passengers were safely disembarked while its engineering team worked to address the issue.

Air Peace emphasized that passenger safety remains its highest priority, stressing that the decision to suspend the flight, though inconvenient, was necessary to ensure safe operations.

“At Air Peace, the safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew will always take precedence over operational schedules.
“While we understand the inconvenience this situation may have caused, taking swift preventive action was the responsible and necessary decision,” the statement added.

The airline disclosed that affected passengers were promptly informed about the development and provided with hotel accommodation and other support services pending the rescheduling of the flight.

To reduce further delays, the carrier said a replacement aircraft would be dispatched from London to operate the affected service.
“To minimise further disruption, a replacement aircraft from London will be dispatched and passengers are scheduled to depart this morning,” the airline said.

Air Peace also thanked passengers for their patience and cooperation during the disruption, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining safe and reliable flight operations.

“We deeply appreciate the patience, understanding, and cooperation shown by our passengers during this period. Their trust remains incredibly important to us,” the statement added.
