Olawale debuts ‘Almost Famous’

Winner of MTN Project Fame West Africa Season 6, Olawale Ojo released his debut album on September 26, 2014.

The gifted musician teamed up with established and fast rising producers as well as artistes to create a unique fusion of R&B, Fuji and Pop music, which we got accustomed to from his performances on the show and since the release of his first single “Is Notin.”

Titled ‘Almost Famous,’ Olawale’s first album is comprised of great songs and amazing collaborations with multi-talented artistes, Lil’Kesh, Skales and the queen herself, Tiwa Savage. And it consists of 10 tracks. Explaining why the album is titled ‘Almost Famous’ he says “I went for a photo shoot and when I was through the pictures, I discovered that the shirt I wore in one of the pictures had an inscription Almost Famous on it and my manager was like wow! This means something and that was how we decided to use the title for my first album, and that was a long time ago when I was preparing for my first single. So, at that time I already have a title for my album.

“I’m really excited about my debut album because it shows all of me right now. It tells my story in music – from Is Notin to Almost Famous, the album. I am looking forward to getting a great response from my fans out there because it comprises of Fuji and R&B embedded in one album. I am back in the studio working on a new project already. The plan is to keep going until I’m famous and I am giving it my heart and all.”

Olawale is so excited with his album because his mentor Tiwa Savage featured in his song “Love Me.” “I am so in love with this song, not only because I featured Tiwa Savage but because I recorded this track when I had already understood the art of song writing. The track was out of my comfort zone because it has an Igbo language in it and I am a Yoruba boy, and it took me time to write the song unlike other songs I write.”

Olawale is a final year student at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ibadan, and he is from a family of four where he happens to be the first child. He looks forward to collaborating with a lot of artistes in the nearest future in his career.

Ever since he won the sixth season of Project Fame, Olawale Ayodeji Ojo has caught the attention of many with the release of singles – Is Nothin, Jupa and Follow My Lead.

Olawale collaborates with producers such as Master Kraft, Spellz, DJ Klem, Sagzy, Kenny Wonder, DJ Coublon, Philkeyz and Que Beats to create a fresh sound on the Almost Famous album. The tracks in the album are Agogo (prod. by Philkeyz & Kenny Wonder),
