Nollywood

As the pandemic keeps penetrating territories and infecting many people across the globe, a lot of cases are likely to emerge from Nollywood, one of the world’s biggest movie industries, following a red alert from the Lagos State Ministry of Health.

The ministry warned that participants at the last African Magic Viewers Choice Awards, (AMVCA) held in Lagos were at risk as they may have had contact with an infected person who was present at the event.

“I hereby notify you that all participants at the African Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) held on14th March at Eko Hotels may have come in contact with one of the confirmed cases in Lagos and are most likely to have been exposed to COVID19 Infection,” the ministry said.

While the State’s ministry of health did not say who the infected person was, it encouraged attendees to take responsibility by practising self-isolation and social distancing.

The African Magic Viewers Choice Awards is one of the biggest celebration of art and excellence in African storytelling.

Many actors, and celebrities of all kinds, both from Nigeria and other African countries were present at the last event.

The event was co-hosted by Ikponmwosa (IK) Osakioduwa and Kenya’s presenter, Amina Abdi Rabar.
