Nigerian government officials and OCP Africa have met to develop a new strategy aimed at improving the country’s agricultural productivity and food security.
The high-level meeting in Morocco brought together top representatives from Nigeria’s finance, investment, and agricultural sectors to discuss the next phase of the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative (PFI).
Dr. Armstrong Ume Takang, leading the Nigerian delegation, emphasized the importance of this partnership. “For Nigeria to attain food sovereignty, we must invest in innovative platforms that integrate advanced agricultural practices, ensure fertilizer availability, and empower farmers,” he said.

The new initiative, called PFI 3.0, aims to transform Nigeria’s agricultural sector by introducing modern technologies and supporting smallholder farmers. It will focus on providing farmers with better access to quality fertilisers, using digital tools to track fertilizer distribution, improving farming logistics, and supporting sustainable farming practices.
Mohamed Hettiti, OCP Africa’s Chief Operating Officer, pledged the company’s commitment to supporting African agriculture. “We are proud to work with the Nigerian government to develop innovative solutions that address the unique challenges of the agricultural sector,” he stated.
Officials from the National Agricultural Development Fund and the Fertilizer Producers and Suppliers Association of Nigeria also participated.
