Anambra State Government is to establish rice processing centre in the three senatorial zones of the state.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture, Mr Leo Imoka, said this at Ogboji in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state during a facility tour of projects in the area.
“Our Agriculture Mechanisation, Processing and Export unit embarked on this project for the purpose of reducing the perennial post harvest losses in rice production.
“The project will be replicated in the three senatorial zones in the state to enhance rice production and processing,’’ Imoka said.
Imoka approved the appointment of committee members from the village to oversee the progress of the project.
“The committee will be in charge of the milling outfit while the ministry will provide the remaining amenities such as electricity, water, security and fencing of the compound,’’ Imoka said.
“We also intend to cover areas like Amaokpala, Ndikelionwu and Ndiowu,’’ he said.
The permanent secretary expressed satisfaction at the progress so far recorded on the project.
