N20bn pension scam: Court grants bail to Uzoma Attang

 The Federal High Court, Abuja on Wednesday granted bail to Uzoma Attang, a major suspect in the police pension scam arraigned before Justice Husseine Baba.

Attang, a former chief accountant in the Police Pension Office, who was arraigned for the first time, is standing trial for theft and abuse of office with six others who were re-arraigned.

The six other accused persons are Esai Dangabar, Atiku Abubakar Kigo, Ahmed Inuwa Wada, Veronica Ulonma Onyegbula, Sani Habila Zira, and Christian Madubuke.

Patrick Akan, counsel to Attang, asked the court to grant his client bail on the same bail terms as the other six accused persons.

The judge ordered that the other six accused persons who were re-arraigned continue to enjoy the terms of the bail granted them by Justice Mohammed Talba.

Justice Talba had granted them bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties in like sum, one of whom must not be less than an officer on grade level 14. The sureties, the judge also said, must live within the jurisdiction of the court.
