The Enugu State, one of the five States in South-East Nigeria, has concluded plans to promote industrialisation and manufacturing activities in the State, making moves to increase the State’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from $4.4 billion to $30 billion.
The move forms part of the key pillars of Governor Peter Mbah’s Administration’s transformation agenda, which include economic advisory, the growing the State’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from $4.4 billion to $30 billion by promoting industrialisation, fostering digital innovation, improving infrastructure, and creating a more business-friendly environment, poverty eradication.
Others are achieving a zero-percent poverty headcount in the State through comprehensive social investment programmes, job creation, inclusive human development policies, and enhanced access to quality education investment and tourism hub, positioning Enugu as Nigeria’s premier destination for investment and tourism, by transforming it into a modern, secure and attractive environment for investors and visitors alike.

Speaking during the ceremony held at Okpara Square to mark his two years in Office, Governor Mbah emphasised that the objectives were not mere ideals but strategic steps toward meaningful progress for the people of Enugu State.
“When we assumed office, Enugu was a state of extraordinary people trapped in an ordinary story — rich in history but stagnant in development,” Mbah said. “Our people were full of potential but stuck in a system that had forgotten how to dream. We came with a bold, disruptive, and transcendent vision — not just to change statistics but to change lives”, he said.
Governor Mbah highlighted several achievements under his administration, including the construction of over 800 kilometres of roads across urban and rural communities to improve access to markets, industries, schools, and healthcare facilities.
He also announced the procurement of 200 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses and 2,000 city taxis, set to become operational soon. Additionally, he noted that the cargo terminal at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport is nearing completion, and that the airport’s international wing would soon begin handling cargo for exports from Enugu to various global destinations.
“Our mission is to rewire Enugu for a promising future, and in just two years, we have laid the foundation for a transformed State,” Mbah said.
