The Bauchi State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Professor Titus Saul Ketkukah has urged the Plateau State Government to finish the construction of Mwel, Jivir, Nyelleng, Ballang and Hawan Pankshin to link the Tapshin road constructed by Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir to enhance economic development.

The commissioner, who is also the Dan-Iya of Tapshin, Jarmai of Ngas Bauchi, stated this during Tapshin Annual Festival of Arts and Culture tagged ‘KANG KHISHI MA SUR 2025’ held at the Tapshin Community Secondary School, Tafawa-Baleawa Local Government Area of Bauchi.

He said that the road to Pankshin from Tapshin in Tafawa-Baleawa Local Government Area of Bauchi was not accessible during rainy season because of rocky nature of the road, rivers and streams.

He further said that farmers were not getting it easy in terms of transporting their goods and that once rainy season starts, economic activities would be affected because of the bad road.

According to the Commissioner, “Tapshin is a direct gateway to Pankshin from Bauchi State without passing through Kabwir in Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State.”

He said that the Tapshin community suffered a lot from bad road during previous administrations, but that when Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir came to power, he changed the narrative about the development of Tapshin by constructing the 11.6 km road from Boi-Tapshin boundary with Pankshin local government area of Plateau State.

He added that it would take about 20 minutes to get to Tapshin if the road is good but that now it takes hours because the road is very bad.

Ketkukah advised Plateau State Government to construct their own part of the road from Mwel, Jivir, Nyelleng, Ballang and Hawan Pankshin to link with the Tapshin road in Bauchi State already constructed by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir to reduce security challenges and to boost the economy of the two states.

On his part, the National Chairman of the Tapshin Development Association, Nde Yohanna Nantok expressed his appreciation to people who accepted their invitation to grace the occasion. He said that Tapshin community was known with the values of peace.

“As a community, we thank the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir for considering one of our own, Professor Titus Saul Ketkukah, the Dan-

Iya of Tapshin as Honorable commissioner of Works and Transport; may God continue to grant you more wisdom as you champion the affairs of the state.”

According to Nantok, “Despite all what you have done to our community, we are appealing to you to provide us with some social amenities like water, electricity, drinking water and hospital.
