The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has announced the commencement of its Aviation Chapter, a specialised platform dedicated to promoting financial excellence, strategic systems integration, and ethical leadership across Nigeria’s aviation sector.
The ICAN Aviation Chapter will serve as a specialised forum for members with expertise and interest in the aviation sector. It aims to provide a platform for knowledge sharing, professional development, and advocacy on key financial and economic issues impacting airlines, airports, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders within the Nigerian aviation sector.
The establishment of the ICAN Aviation Chapter marks a step in recognising the unique financial complexities and growth potential of Nigeria’s aviation sector.
“By bringing together our members with specialized knowledge, we aim to contribute significantly to the sector’s sustainable development and adherence to the highest standards of financial management and corporate governance.
“The newly formed chapter will focus on several key objectives, including: Professional excellence: Organizing workshops, seminars, and training programs tailored to the specific financial needs of the aviation industry,” a statement signed by John Italume from ICAN read.
Italume said the chapter would facilitate the exchange of best practices, insights, and research findings among members working in the aviation sector.
He also said the chapter will help people engage with policymakers and regulatory bodies on financial and economic issues affecting the aviation industry, amongst others.
The interim leadership of the ICAN Aviation Chapter has been appointed, comprising experienced chartered accountants with extensive backgrounds in aviation finance, Airport management and strategic leadership. Ayodele Olatiregun, shall be invested as the Pioneer Chairman alongside other executive members and Airport professionals in the Aviation Industry.
The launch event is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Victoria Garden Conference and Event centre Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos, and will bring together top stakeholders from the aviation industry, finance professionals, regulatory agencies, and government representatives.
