As part of the drive to fulfil his campaign promise and open up Akwa Ibom State for investors, Governor Udom Emmanuel has  appointed an eleven-man committee on Foreign Direct Investments (FDI.)
                                                            
Headed by  Gabriel Ukpeh, an internationally celebrated auditor who is also a partner and risk quality leader for Africa at Price Water House Cooper (PWC), other members of the committee include: Offong Ambah,  Elijah Akpan,  Ini Urua,  Akan Udofia,  Andrew Jason,  Udeme Ufot, Mrs. Offiong Ekanem Ejindu, Larry Esin and the Commissioner for Investments, Commerce and Industry.
In a statement, the governor noted that committee members are “highly accomplished Nigerians and the Governor, while congratulating them for their appointment, expects them to deploy their vast contacts and interactions within international financial and investment circles to attract investments to the state.”
The Committee, has  Victor Bob as secretary.
Meanwhile the governor says the state government is intensifying efforts to ensure that the people of the State enjoy a steady supply of water and electricity within his 100 days in office.
He stated this during the 3rd convocation and 5th matriculation ceremony of Uma Ukpai School of Theology and Biblical Studies held at the College Campus in Uyo the Akwa Ibom State Capital.
He said  electricity supply in the State would improve to enable the people engaging in small scale businesses operate successfully.
He however, decried the spate of vandalisation on electrical installations stressing that the ugly trend will soon be a thing of the past as help lines are being created for members of the public to promptly report such cases and other difficulties encountered in power supply to the appropriate authority.
On water supply, he noted that it would be made available to every part of the State and that taps have been turned on in some part of the State Capital. He cited Shelter Afrique axis of the State as area where water problem has been solved.
 “We would ensure that constant water supply is provided to every part of the State before our 100 days in office, already we have turn on the taps in shelter Afrique axis, so if you leave in that axis and yours is not working, it then means that your pipes are leaking, we are not only providing these but we ensure that hygiene is taken into consideration to make sure we enhance the lives of the people of the State,’’ he said.
