Ibok Ekwe Ibas, Rivers State Sole Administrator, has ordered what sounded shocking, demanding for records of finances and activities of the 23 local council areas of Rivers State.

The immediate past local council bosses in the state who came into office on October 5, 2025, and left after the February 28, 2025, Supreme Court ruling, have gone to visit their mentor, Sim Fubara, the suspended governor, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

The Sole Administrator had made the demand of records including number of workers in each council, revenue and sources, spending, etc, something that has been interpreted as a probe of the Fubara era at the LGAs and part of the Nyesom Wike era.

There are also speculations that sole administrators were being lined up for the councils, something that has already attracted negative reactions from the Fubara camp.

Now, the former chairmen said they were on a ‘Solidarity Visit’ to show unwavering support and commitment to the course of the ‘Rivers First’ mantra under the leadership of Gov Fubara.

They were led on the visit by Ezebunwo Ichemati, the former chairman of Association of Local Government Chairmen in Nigeria (ALGON), Rivers State Chapter, and former Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Council.

The 23 chairmen, who were said to be in high spirits, said they embarked on the visit to reassure the Governor of their unflinching loyalty and dedication to his mandate. They urged Rivers people to continue to rally support for the governor, despite the challenges.

The chairmen also prayed God to intercede and defend the governor at this trying moment in the State’s political history, saying that this is the most crucial time for Rivers people to be more united and law-abiding in order not to give the enemies opportunity.
