Nigerian Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, alleging that he made unwanted advances in December 2023. Akpabio denied these allegations. Subsequently, Akpoti-Uduaghan filed a formal petition, which was dismissed on procedural grounds. On 6 March 2025, the Senate suspended her for six months, citing misconduct unrelated to the harassment claims. This incident has sparked nationwide protests and intensified discussions about women’s rights and representation in Nigeria’s political sphere.
