…As ICSP inducts new members
The Founder of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprises and former director general of LCCI, Muda Yusuf, has tasked certified sales professionals in Nigeria, with the need to be strategic and diligent in their promotion of made-in-Nigeria goods and services to grow the economy.
Yusuf said the best way to achieve results in the pursuit of promoting made-in-Nigeria goods is for Nigerians to appreciate and be proud of being Nigerians in all ramifications.
Delivering a keynote address, tagged ‘Overcoming the challenges of selling Nigeria to Nigerians’ at the 2025 induction of the Institute of Certified Sales Professionals (ICSP) held in Lagos, Yusuf said that sales professionals should focus on strategies to promote the virtual nature of made-in-Nigeria products by Nigerians across all sectors.
Yusuf said Nigeria need to continue to scale up investments in promoting its products because there are lots of opportunities in Nigeria despite the economic challenges facing the country.
According to him, to achieve the required result in the process of promoting made-in-Nigeria goods and services, there is a need for strategic partnerships between national governments and sales professionals to improve the global perception and image of Nigerian products through reorientation, education and innovation.
He urged the newly inducted members of the institute to be resilient, committed and not be discouraged in the cause of doing their job.
Arthur Ozoigbo, president of the Institute of Certified Sales Professionals in his welcome address called on the Sales professionals to preserve the values and discipline of the institute irrespective of the pressure to meet sales targets.
Ozoigbo said there is the need to recognise the important role that sales professionals play in any organisation and the Nigeria economy at large.
According to him, despite the challenges of facing a society where values are collapsing, members must imbibe those values that the institute stands for no matter the situation.
He said the institute was set up to encourage sales professionals to begin to aspire to higher levels of political leadership.
The high point of the ceremony was the conferment of the Fellow recognition of the Institute of Certified Sales Professionals to Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, popularly known as Alibaba.
Conferring the fellow honours to Akpobome, the ICSP president, said Akpobome has through his contributions to the development of the creative and entertainment industry in Nigeria become a major force to reckon with in the comedy industry through his pioneering role in standup comedy.
