Properties worth ₦5 billion were destroyed during the nationwide protests in August 2024 according to the Jigawa State Government.

Barrister Bello Fanini,Chairman of the fact-finding committee, confirmed the extensive damage while presenting its report to Governor Umar Namadi at the Government House in Dutse on Tuesday night.

Fanini, who also serves as the state Commissioner for Justice, revealed that the destruction affected assets belonging to the federal, state, and local governments, as well as private individuals.

The committee’s report includes key recommendations aimed at preventing such devastating incidents in the future.

Governor Namadi commended the committee for their thorough work and pledged to carefully review and implement their recommendations.
He also emphasised the urgent need to safeguard lives and properties of residents in the state.
