Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ABUCCI) has revealed plans to improve its revenue base by 50 percent at the forthcoming trade fair involving both local and foreign participants.

Through business facilitation, the Chamber aims to galvanise proper networking of various businesses and create an avenue for closing up of business deals and signing of memorandum of understanding among various parties.

Tony Ejinkonye, president, ABUCCI, said at the pre-10th Abuja International Trade Fair conference, that the chamber would be riding on the improved security conditions in the country to bring businesses together in its bid to diversify the country’s revenue base and create opportunities for the youths.

The fair, which would take place between September 18 and October 2, would target the promotion and growth of industry and concentrate on the promotion of non-oil exports, the president explained.

The fair is expected to see more participants due largely to the nation’s improved security apparatus, with the recorded feat in the nation’s fight against the dreaded Ebola virus, which he said affected last year’s fair.

“For this year’s exhibition, we are expected to have up to 150 foreign exhibitors because of the peaceful atmosphere we have in the country, unlike the previous year, when we have 65 exhibitors only,” he said.

Also, Adetokunbo Kayode, first deputy president of the Chamber, said more businesses would have opportunities for proper networking as the Chamber had prepared the ground for effective collaboration targeted at business facilitation of various businesses.

“This year, we would be leveraging on ICT for the management of the fair, and to promote management of the fare. For instance, we are organising as part of this fare, an international ICT event,” Kayode said.

“Our role is to promote the business of our members. In mining for instance, we intend to expose our members to the opportunities that are available in the country, like the kaoline, the mines ands steel sector, among others,” he said, saying various government agencies with outstanding research findings would also be exhibiting such findings for the business community to advance the commercialisation.
