A Pan-Yoruba social political group, Majeobaje Movement, has sent a 14-point ‘Good Governance Charter’ to the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari.

The group described the recommendations as the minimum pre-condition for economic growth not only in the South West but the nation at large, if well implemented.

Addressing journalists in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, Convener of Majeobaje Movement, Akintayo Akin-Deko, listed the contents of the ‘Good Governance Charter’ as including, among others, the restoration of security, eradication of corruption, ensuring rule of law, infrastructural development, constitutional reform, poverty alleviation, universal healthcare, functional education, sustainable agriculture, electricity supply, affordable housing programme and youth empowerment.

“Good governance at the federal level remains a precondition for achieving better life in Yoruba South West,” Akin-Deko said.

“It is for this reason that we forwarded this open-ended Good Governance Charter to the President-elect and his vice. It is our hope that they will adopt it as a cornerstone for a social pact through which positive change can be systematically ushered in, and thereafter, sustained in Nigeria,” he added.
