Nigerians have not been affected in the ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa, the minister of foreign affairs, Aminu Wali, said on Thursday.

This is even as he stated that the Nigerian government will not take lightly its duty to evacuate its citizens from South Africa if the need arises as it will not allow its nationals to be subjected to such inhuman treatment.

At least five people have been killed and hundreds forced to flee their homes in one of South Africa’s worst outbreaks of xenophobic violence in years, reports had quoted South African authorities as saying on Tuesday.
