Patrick Njoroge, former governor of the Central Bank of Kenya, disclosed that Africa must create sufficient quality jobs to cater to its surging youth population.

He said this while giving a keynote speech titled ‘Africa’s Moonshot to 2050—Adapt and Innovate’ at the BusinessDay CEO Forum 2024, which was held in Lagos.

“Quality jobs must be created in sufficient numbers,” Njoroge said, however adding that “We do not even know the type of jobs to create as technology is changing rapidly.”

Njoroge said basic building blocks of economic development must be put in place while urging governments to foster development of its citizens.
