The Arewa Youth Forum, a combination of youths under the auspices of Hausa communities in Ogun State, has passes a vote of no confidence in the re-election ambition of Governor Ibikunle Amosun, saying their choice of Social Democratic Party and its gubernatorial candidate, Akin Odunsi, was due to Segun Osoba’s track record of achievements.
According to the Forum, Governor Amosun was voted en masse by the people of Hausa community across the state in the year 2011 under the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) based on Osoba’s request and influence. Speaking with journalists in Abeokuta weekend, Sanni Hadi, chairman, Arewa Youth Forum, lamented that the governor, since he was declared winner of the gubernatorial election in 2011, has not considered it necessary to compensate Hausa community and has never consulted them in the implementation of government policies.
Hadi, who declared that the northerners resident in the state had not in any way enjoyed the administration of Governor Amosun, said: “Amosun doesn’t take us into consideration in any of his policy implementation regarding appointment, employment, social amenities. “Amosun spent all his four good years in office without delivering any amenity to our communities let alone coming down to see us.
It was Osoba who told us that Amosun was an egalitarian candidate in 2011, that was why we voted for him, but for about four years since Amosun emerged governor of the state, he has neglected us; he has not looked back.” But, when Arewa Youth Forum was asked whether they would disown All Progressives Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, who is from the North because of Amosun’s action against the group, they explained that the governor’s attitude would not work against Buhari’s election.
