Samsung drives up social media use with new smartphone

Samsung Electronics West Africa (SEWA) has unveiled the two innovative devices – Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3, which offers a refined, trendy design with the most advanced functions to support social networking.

There are about 9 million social media users in Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy by GDP, with about 5.4 percent penetration, according to a recent research by TwinePine Research entitled ‘The State of Digital Media’, which also reveals that 83 percent of social media users in the country are active. Available in a variety of colors and sizes, both devices empower younger consumers to quickly and easily capture meaningful moments, connect to social media platforms and share their daily experiences.

The mobile devices were however unveiled at the Movie Premiere of Banky W’s music films and video, “A Music Film Experience” at the
Genesis Deluxe Cinemas, in Lagos recently.

“The A5 and A3 offer a beautifully crafted full metal unibody, slim design, superior hardware and the best possible social media experience. These mobile devices make our advanced Galaxy experience even more accessible to young and trend conscious consumers”, said Emmanouil Revmatas, director of hand held products for SEWA.

Featuring refined full metal body designs that are 6.7mm and 6.9mm thin, respectively, the Galaxy A5 and A3 are Samsung’s slimmest smartphones to date. The mobile devices are available in Pearl White, Midnight Black, Platinum Silver and Champagne Gold, to accommodate the personal style and preference of diverse smartphone users.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 and A3 come with 2 Hybrid SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) slots that allow phone users to decide between the option of using 2 SIMS or alternating the second slot for memory expansion with a micro SD card.

According to Revmatas, the mobile devices will be available in the market in the New Year and the first set of consumers to purchase the smart devices will be given a Selfie Stick, a monopod specifically designed to be held at arm’s length for that perfect shot.

Other exciting features of the Samsung Galaxy A5 and A3 include a superior mobile and social experience for young consumers who want to express their unique style while constantly staying connected.

With an advanced 5MP (Mega Pixel) frontfacing camera, taking vivid selfies is currently easier than ever before. Innovative photo-taking features such as Wide Selfie, Palm Selfie, Animated GIF, Beauty Face Features, and Rear-cam Selfie let phone users capture attractive selfies in high resolution by automatically detecting and focusing on a person’s face.
