Rafiu Ladipo, president general of Nigeria Supporters Club, has called on all stakeholders in Nigerian football to embrace peace and work towards developing the round leather game rather than creating vacuum for infighting.
Ladipo who spoke to journalist in Lagos expressed bitterness over the development in Nigerian football, which has made progress impossible for the current board following the disagreement in the Election Appeals Committee.
He said the infighting in Nigerian football has not only drawn the development of the game backward in the country but it has also made it difficult for Nigeria to qualify for the 2015 African Cup of Nations billed to hold in Equatorial Guinea.
“Election has come and gone and we should all forget that somebody lost, a winner has emerged and we should all support him for the game to grow in the country.
“We cannot continue to fight and expect our national teams to do well in any competition we take part in and that the case we have seen in the Super Eagle.
“We won the last Nations Cup but failed to qualify for the next edition which does not speak well of us as a nation or football persons.
“Football has gone beyond that and for us as a nation to move forward; we must work together as a family and support the leader which is Mr Amaju Pinnick, with our support Nigerian football can be better positioned and we will all enjoy it. We at the supporters club suffered the pains of not qualifying for the African Cup of Nations more than anybody and we don’t want further pains.”
The dark complexioned football administrator however thanked FIFA, the Federal Government and football lovers in the country for their continued support to the game.
