Hussain Ibrahim, the director general, Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Tuesday said that importation of fruit juice concentrates was costing Nigeria N165 billion annually.

Presenting a paper at a workshop in Kaduna, Ibrahim said importation of concentrates was adversely affecting the development of local fruits cultivation for juice processing.

The workshop, organised by the RMRDC in collaboration with the Kaduna Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIM), had the theme ‘Post Harvest Management and Value Chain Financing’.
