Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas is set to join Real Madrid after the European champions agreed to meet the release clause in his contract, reports in Spain have said.

Marca said Madrid had agreed to pay the 10 million euros stipulated in the Levante keeper’s contract.

The report comes weeks after Levante president Quico Catalan had denied that Real Madrid were in for Navas but said the club had turned down a bid from Atletico Madrid.

Bayern Munich were also reported to have been in the frame to sign the goalkeeper.

The signing of Navas — who excelled at the World Cup, conceding only twice as his side reached their first-ever quarterfinal — would mean strong competition for Casillas.
