US and UN to declare emergency rule over Zimboda

It is now official.  The next General Assembly of the United Nations scheduled to hold in New York from 16th September to 29th September 2014 will be devoted entirely to only one item:

“EMERGENCY RULE IN ZIMBODA”

The motion is being sponsored by the President of United States of America, Barack Obama.  His decision was based on the intelligence report by a former Head of Counter Terrorism Bureau of the United States of America, Mr Daniel Benjamin.

It was marked “STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL”

However, Edward Snowden the Ex-National Security Agency employee who is now ensconced in Moscow, Russia leaked it anyway to the press under the caption:

“BOKO HARAM IS THE WORLD’S DEADLIEST TERROR GROUP”

According to Benjamin, Boko Haram attained the status by overtaking the Taliban in Afghanistan.  It boasted that it killed at least seven persons in each of its attack in North-Eastern Zimboda.  The leader of the Boko Haram has released a video threatening to sell off 276 school girls into slavery.  By 2012, it was the second most deadly terrorist group in the world after Afghanistan’s Taliban as the Taliban had at that time killed more people than Boko Haram.

Benjamin added:

“Boko Haram has already become a major menace to countries like Cameroon, Niger, Chad and Nigeria.  They are well funded and well-armed.”

According to the President of the United States of America:

“We have to be pro-active and ensure we avoid monumental internal dislocation problems as well as colossal trans-border refugees out of fear and desperation.  Boko Haram is ruthless and cunning.  We have to ACT IN THE NICK OF TIME.”

President Obama had firmly rejected all pleas to get involved in the vortex of the intractable problems of Zimboda but he was left with no choice when the First Lady, Michelle and his two daughters Malia and Natasha (Sasha) joined the global campaign with the hash tag:

#BRING BACK OUR GIRLS#

To further compound matters, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, leader of the Niger-Delta Volunteer Force was on CNN; Fox; News; Good Morning America; BBC; Al Jazeera and virtually every major radio and television channel delivering as “BREAKING NEWS” his verdict on Zimboda:

“Let’s sit down and tell ourselves we can’t live together.”

This was followed by an even more trenchant “BREAKING NEWS”

Headline:Zimboda Is Sick – Remi Tinubu

“The Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District in the Senate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Oluremi Tinubu has lamented that Zimboda as a nation is sick and that unless some proactive decisions are taken in 2015 matters may get totally out of hand.”

It is just as well that Nigeria has gone on the offensive and taken on the international media which has been mostly hostile.

The President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria declared at the World Economic Forum on Africa:

“I am determined to protect our democracy, our national unity and our political stability, by waging a total war against terrorism.

The unity and stability of our country and the protection of lives and property are non-negotiable.  I have instructed our security forces to launch a full-scale operation to put an end to the impunity of terrorists on our soil.  I have also authorized the security forces to use any means necessary under the law to ensure this is done.”

The military high command promptly launched its own media offensive too.

The much decorated Air-Marshall Alex Badeh who is Nigeria 15th Chief of Defence Staff issued the following statements:

(i)You see the kind of war we are fighting is something that people never contemplated.  When you form an army, it is to go and face other armies, not to go and face every village in a state as big as Borno.  Therefore, because we are covering such a vast area, you can’t deploy in number.  Don’t forget that the people we are fighting they see us, count us in numbers, but we don’t know them.  They know how many people are deployed in a particular place, they go and prepare and come back with 20 times more people than you have.

(ii)What is state of emergency?  What does it deprive the people of?  Apart from curfew if things get bad, all other activities are carried on normally.  And the CDS (Chief of Defence Staff) have not asked for any financial support from the states.  Therefore, when you say that the state of emergency is not working, it is because it allows the security forces to be able to carry out duties, make arrest without charging you to court and can detain you for interrogation for 24 hours.  We can search.  Other than that, there is absolutely no infringement.  If the state of emergency was that bad it would not be in the constitution.

(iii)The military are defenders of democracy.  So when people are saying go and remove state governors so that you have total emergency, what is total emergency?  The constitution doesn’t talk about the removal of governor.  There is nothing like total emergency.  It is alien to our constitution.

(iv)Daily killings happen everywhere in the world, it’s just that the number that is given is the difference.  In other countries and in major cities, they kill up to 500 people in a day but they don’t report it, but in our own case because of the freedom (of information), anything that happens is being voiced out.  By the way, all the numbers being put out as death casualties, who has ever verified them?  In fact, the veracity of such information sometimes is questionable.  (For authentication) we even wait to hear if the governor has gone there.  If he has, then we know something serious has happened.  If they don’t go, we just probably assume that it’s a ruse.

(v)It’s not exactly a total war because in a war you know your opponent and your opponent knows you.  Even by the uniform he wears and by the weapon he carries, you will know your opponent.  So that when you hear the shooting of a gun, by your experience, you can almost say this is the caliber of the gun that is being shot.  But now, you won’t know who is a member of this group.  So, to say that our soldiers are not well equipped, not well armed, based on the few things in the papers are not appropriate statements.  But I can understand that many people who do the writings or who make the statements never had any form of military training.

It turns out that Senator John McCain of Arizona the former Presidential candidate is very much in favour of declaration of Emergency Rule over Zimboda.  This is the report (front page of “Vanguard” newspaper of June 12, 2014) which he presented to the Senate Committee on Security.

Headline:FG WANTS TO KILL ME – KANKWANSO

Kano Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State, yesterday, raised an alarm that the Federal Government was trying to harm him and his family by withdrawing a substantial number of his security aides and policemen.

The governor has also accused the Federal Government of sponsoring those he described as the enemies of the state to embark on violent protests across the state with a view to bringing down his administration.

Kwankwaso, who defected from the People Democratic Party, PDP, with four other governors to the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, last December, told journalists in Abuja that he was concerned about the current standoff in his state by agents of the Federal Government.

The governor said:  “I know that they are playing a lot of games.  We do not know their intention and what they are going to do next.  But I have to say like all other people in this country that everybody is concerned about his/her security, otherwise our lives are in the hands of the Almighty God.

The bottom line is that we have seen a sign that there is a level of mischief coming from other places and I want to put it on record that whatever happens to me, my family or my state, Jonathan should be held responsible.
