Former vice chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Michael Oladimeji Faborode will proffer critical steps Nigeria need to take towards sustainable development post Covid-19 at the 5th convocation lecture of the McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State.
Faborode, a professor of Agricultural Engineering and former secretary general Committee of vice chancellors in Nigeria, will be delivering the convocation lecture titled: “Sustainable Development, Post COVID-19: Is Nigeria’s Growing Population a Curse or Multiple Blessings at the event scheduled for Saturday, 14th November, 2020.
Adeniyi Agunbiade, vice chancellor, McPherson University, while speaking at the pre-convocation press conference held virtually on Thursday, said the university will be graduating 92 students at the 5th convocation ceremony.
According to him, “McPherson University has instituted a culture of celebrating excellence and creating avenue for healthy academic rivalry among our students. Exceptional abilities in academic performance are recognised. The initiative focuses on students with GPA of 4.5 and above at the end of each session”
Agunbiade observed that Parents Consultative Forum (PCF) a partnership for the exchange of ideas is among the developmental mechanisms employed by the institution to achieve value-added dividends on the administration of the school.
The vice chancellor said McPherson university has and continues to impact her immediate community with respect to corporate social responsibility, adding that the university has embarked on Agricultural projects all geared towards growing Internally generated revenue ventures while also serving as a platform for entrepreneurial skill acquisition by students.
Among the 92 students set for graduation on Saturday, 12 students bag First Class;, 33 Second Class Upper; 41 Second Class Lower and 6 Third Class.
