First City Monument Bank (FCMB) is poised to boost its ego in Nigeria’s highly competitive banking scene, as the bank recently announced the appointment of Oluwatoyin Ashiru, a professor, and Gregory Omosigho Ero, a seasoned engineer, as non-executive directors.

Ashiru, who is an accomplished Materials and Metallurgical engineer with over 30 years of comprehensive professional experience in academia, entrepreneurship, management engineering, technologies invention, and consulting for the enhancement of productivity in major industries across the world, holds the USA, British, European, Brazilian, and other international patents for products and systems he invented.

Ashiru, who is also highly skilled on strategic planning, budget controls and problem solving with extensive international experience in several countries, has served on joint venture and consortium executive committees and has participated directly in claims negotiations and settlement agreements in excess of $100 million.

Omosigho Ero, on his part, is a petroleum engineer who had spent much of his career in the public service, where he served in many capacities spanning three decades in the petroleum industry and also on the board of several Federal Government parastatals.

He is a graduate of the University of Ibadan and Imperial College, London. He also studied in Ivy League colleges including University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, University of Columbia, New York, and the Institute of Management Development, Lausanne, Switzerland.

Ero has been widely recognised for his sterling professional qualities, one of which was from the former US Secretary of State, George Schultz, for his outstanding work as Managing Director of National Engineering and Technical Company Limited (NETCO), a joint venture of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Bechtel Incorporation of the United States. He was equally honoured by the Nigerian Petroleum Golden Jubilee Board in recognition of his excellent leadership qualities, meritorious service and contributions to the development of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry.

Ero, is the current chairman/CEO of Arkleen Oil, as well as the Chairman, Cardinal Drilling Company Limited, a fellow of many professional bodies including the Fellowship of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering; Fellow, Nigerian Society of Engineers; Hon Fellow, Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers and Fellow, Institute of Directors of Great Britain.
