On Sunday, the 10th of November, The Cuppy Foundation hosted its inaugural Gold Gala at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja. The special dinner was organized to support and applaud the transformative programs and works achieved by “Save the Children” organization in Nigeria.

Prominent dignitaries and celebrities such as; Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President of Nigeria, Bukola Saraki, Former senate president, Adams Oshiomole, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Governor, Dame Paulen Tallen, the CEO of Save the Children UK Kevin Watkins, Minister of Women Affairs, and more, all united for a good cause.

Femi Otedola, Dj Cuppy’s Father, generously donated a huge sum of 5 billion naira to the children of Borno, Adamawa and Katsina through Save the Children organization. The owner of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote also donated a whopping sum of 100 million naira.

Founder, Cuppy Otedola said “I founded this Cuppy Foundation as a way of giving back to children. As many of you know, I’m very passionate about what I do. And, through this foundation, I have contributed to many Nigerians; those with disabilities, visiting places around the country. Ever since that visit, my determination to save Nigerian children has grown. I have committed my time, my strength and my passion for this Gold Gala to help Nigerian children.

“There is a proverb that says if you want to move a mountain tomorrow, start by picking up the small stones today. Tonight is about picking up the small stones, through a donation and an investment in what Cuppy and Save the Children are trying to achieve together. Through this donation, we can save lives, we can put children in schools, we can ensure children don’t go to bed hungry.” – Kevin Watkins, CEO of Save the Children UK, said.

The gala opened with a beautiful performance from Cuppy and later eased into various segments such as an auction packed with Anthony Joshua’s boxing glove, King Sunny Ade’s Keyboard and other unique items and a private dinner with special performances.

The Cuppy Foundation is an establishment aimed at tackling issues surrounding young females, education for girls, and persons with disabilities (minorities). This Foundation was born out of a passion deep within her founder to give individuals who have been forgotten and relegated to the background of society a chance at building the life they desire, a chance that every individual on earth deserves.
