Chairman of the Christian Council of Nigeria South-South Zone and Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of Niger-Delta (Anglican Communion), Tunde Adeleye, has said the suspension of the controversial RUGA settlement project was still dangerous and scary, stressing that the project should be cancelled out rightly and thrown away for good
Adeleye made the assertion on Monday while briefing newsmen on the 2019 Synod at the Cathedral Church of The Holy Trinity, Anglican Communion, Calabar, Cross River State
He said the suspension of RUGA was a welcome development but everyone must note that it was only a suspension adding that the project should be outrightly cancelled because it was still dangerous and scary at suspension level.
His words: “The suspension of controversial RUGA settlement project is a welcome development. It was purely aimed at Islamising and Fulanising the country. We should note that this has only been suspended not outrightly cancelled.
“This is still dangerous and scary because the Arewa Youths have given the Federal government an ultimatum to restore it. The President of Ohanaze has just ordered the Igbo’s to be prepared to defend themselves. The Yoruba leaders have insisted that such a thing will never be allowed to be executed in the west. These show that peace has not yet come.
“We are now sure of the details of National Livestock Transformation Plan, NLTP, regarding the movement of cows in the country. Nigeria is a multi-religious country, and no religion should be a state religion. Christians will be needed to wake up and fight against this through prayers.
“It is a common fact that Nigeria is now divided along religious lines. There is a promotion of one religion over and above others in Nigeria. This explains why herdsmen are able to freely kill and maim people at will and without inhibition and the federal government seems helpless in the matter.
“There seems to fear all over the country that we were being gradually Islamised in Nigeria. The fear is quite palpable and can be proven. This mass movement of cows in the country is a ploy to Islamise the country.
“The project should be totally cancelled, it is not in tandem with our constitution because according to it lands is kept in trust with the state government, so it totally negates our laws and it is dangerous because there is no way you can juxtapose it with our culture and tradition as a people ,we have diverse believes and culture, the livestock project should not be forced on us in any form or coloration,” Adeleye stated.
