Lagos State government (LASG) working in concert with the Federal Government has announced restriction of movement of trucks into Apapa via the Mile 2-Tincan route.
The restriction will last from Friday, June 28, till Monday, July 1, 2019. The action is to enable contractors to carry out repair works on collapsed sections of Oshodi- Mile 2-Tincan expressway.
The contractors had already begun some palliative works on Creek Road, Apapa linking Liverpool towards the Tincan area of Apapa, in what is hoped will bring the much-desired relief to the setback businesses and residents are currently experiencing in Apapa and its environs.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo accompanied by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, of Lagos, last Saturday, undertook a tour of Apapa, promising to fix the area.

Taiwo Salaam, the permanent secretary, Lagos State Ministry of transport, in a statement issued on Friday, said the restriction of the trucks was in line with the effort to clear the mess in Apapa.
“Trucks carrying export and empty containers for Tincan Island Port operations are to stay out of Lagos for the next three days, i.e until Monday, July 1 to allow for the palliatives and opening of the axis for truck use.
Also, note that the government has secured a 12-day demurrage period extension. All trucks approaching Apapa wharf port are to approach the Port via Wharf road (Ijora, Orile and Iganmu) through their various nominated parks and Lilypond transit truck park,” said Salaam.
Salaam explained that while this lasts, loaded trucks from the Tincan Island ports will exit through the Apapa-Oshodi express road service lane via Liverpool road roundabout and Coconut.
“No truck from Tincan Island would be allowed to access Apapa Wharf port using Creek road or Tincan Island area as Creek road would be closed for construction to trucks from Apapa Oshodi expressway.”
He further noted that freight forwarders, fleet operators, transport agents and truckers were expected to strictly comply with the order and follow accordingly.
“Also, all trucks approaching Creek road from Apapa Wharf road are to use Wharehouse road and Commercial avenue, as heavy construction work on Creek road has begun,” he said.
