The chairman Trade Union Congress (TUC) Taraba State chapter Victor Olatunji, has warned against the reckless increase in the price of commodities by marketers as civil servants patiently await the new minimum.
This is as the ASCSN Taraba Federal chapter returned Isaac Lingmu as the branch chairman for a tenure of four years.
Olatunji gave the warning in Jalingo, at the 4th quadrennial delegates conference of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) Taraba Federal Chapter.
Olatunji who warned that arbitrary increase in the price of commodities will not only rob workers of the minimal relief from the increase in the national minimum wage but will also leave the economy in the state of jeopardy also advised union leaders to sensitize the marketers.
He expressed commitment by the Federal government in ensuring that the implementation of the new minimum wage was achieved within a short time, urged workers in the state to remain patient.
He noted the the new minimum wage will have more impact on the Junior civil servants adding that, the senior Civil Servants will benefit a little from the increase.
The TUC leader solicited for synergy between TUC and ASCSN to achieve a common goal for workers.
Earlier in his speech, Solomon Abochol, the immediate past Chairman ASCSN, advised the members if the Association to continue to uphold cohesion among members.
Abochol, who served as the chairman of the chapter for two terms of eight years also advised the new leadership of the union to uphold the spirit of ‘oneness’ to achieve a common goal for all Federal staff serving in Taraba State.

He assured of his readiness to support the incoming executives to achieve the goals of the union.
Lingum will head a five Taraba state Administrative council (SAC) of ASCSN, who were equally elected with him to administer the affairs of ASCSN for the next four years.
In his acceptance speech, Lingmu said his mission was to ensure connectivity between the Federal agencies and the Taraba state government, adding that the Federal agencies who were working for the socio economic development of the state were undermined by the state government hence the need for synergy.
