NLNG, MTN foundation scholarship beneficiary emerges LASU best graduating student

Ridwan Ola-Gbadamosi, a beneficiary of Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas, MTN Foundation and Federal Government Scholarships has emerged the best graduating student at the 23rd graduation ceremony of Lagos State University. (LASU).

Ola-Gbadamosi, a graduate from the Faculty of Engineering scored a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.88 to share the top prize with Nneka Kareen Enumah of the faculty of Science who also scored a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.88.

In his valedictory speech Wednesday at the university auditorium Ojo main campus venue of the event, where a total of fifty seven (57) first class students were recorded, Ola-Gbadamosi said his zest, passion, inquisitiveness and sheer determination, typifies passion for success, a recipe in every degree award recipient graduating from the citadel of learning.

He opined that it is pertinent to note that the success of undergraduates today is a function of the decisions they make as well as efforts and/or sacrifices they choose on their journey to becoming who they want.

According to him, “My perception about education was centered on the world needs for people who can think creatively, innovatively and independently; with the ability to proffer sustainable and pragmatic solution”

“We have started a phase in our lives and there will be many more difficulties and setbacks ahead of us. We have been rightly equipped by this great institution to tackle all challenges, achieve greater successes and make a difference in our communities. Fellow alumni, I charge us all to go into the world and make positive difference”, he said.

Olanrewaju Fagboun, vice chancellor, Lagos State University in his opening address said the ceremony presents an opportunity to reward the effort, brilliance and outstanding performance of some of our graduands who have excelled in their various disciplines by giving them prizes and awards.

Fagboun observes that the world without doubt has become more competitive, urging the graduands not to exercise doubts because they have also been equipped to meet the challenges ahead.

He observed that never in the history of the Lagos State University have the institution graduated 57 first class students.

According to him, “This convocation is unique in the sense that two graduands, Ridwan Oladotun Ola-Gbadamosi from the Faculty of Engineering and Nneka Karen Enumah of the faculty of Science graduating with a CGPA of 4.88 to emerge as overall best graduating students.

In the Faculty of Arts, Faith Chidinma Uzuegbu and Adenike Anthonia Abati both of the Department of English emerged the best graduating students in the faculty with a CGPA of 4.41.

“We also have a tie in the Faculty of Social Sciences where Abosede Muinat Onifade and Omowunmi Ayomide Kassim both of the Department of Sociology graduated with a CGPA of 4.78 to emerge the best graduating students in their Faculty”, he said.

Graduands with the best results in other Faculties are: Shukrat Opeyemi Kannike (4.36) – Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences/Physiology.

Moshood Adekunle Bakare (4.75) -Faculty of Education/Accounting Education; Oluwagbotemi Boluwatife Fasominu (4.31) – Faculty of Law.

Others are Ismail Owolabi Salami (4.85) -Faculty of Management Sciences/Insurance; Titilope Aishat Adebisi (4.47) -School of Communication/Mass Communication and Emmanuel Adeoye Oyeleke (4.12) – School of Transport/Transport Management and Operations.
