PTDF receives over 19,000 applications for overseas scholarships

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) said it received a total of 19,323 applications for 2019/2020 overseas postgraduate scholarship scheme.

PTDF had on 28th of November 2018 invited qualified Nigerians to apply for the scholarship scheme (MSc/PhD) under PTDF Strategic Partnerships with Universities in the United Kingdom, Germany and France.

The Fund said at the close of the application period which lasted for six weeks, 15,822 applied for MSc Overseas Scholarship Scheme whole 3,501 applied for the PhD Overseas Scholarship Scheme .

The Fund in a statement by the Head, Press and External Relations, Kalu Otisi announced that physical oral Interview Exercise for shortlisted candidates in the two categories (MSc/PhD) is scheduled to hold from  Monday April 29 to May 10th, 2019 in six designated centres of the six geo-political zones.

According to the statement, the interview for candidates in the South-South zone will be held at the University of Port-Harcourt, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State while candidates in the South-West will be interviewed at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Candidates in the North-Central will be interviewed at the PTDF Tower, Opposite Yar’adua Centre, CBD, Abuja.

Candidates in the South-East will be interviewed at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nsukka, Enugu State, while candidates in North-East will be at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Bauchi State

North-West candidates will be interviewed in Kaduna State University.

The PTDF noted that the Overseas Scholarship Scheme has over the years succeeded in producing well trained, competent and skilled professional manpower for the various segments of the oil and gas industry.

The fund said a total of 4,816 Nigerians have so far benefitted from PTDF Overseas Scholarship Schemes to include 1,449 PhD and 3,367 in MSC.
